How to Achieve Beautiful Skin, Hair, and Nails in Just 90 Days
Why do some women have a full head of hair while others lose hair in the shower or when they brush it? Why do some women have strong nails and don’t think twice about it, while others struggle to understand why theirs are brittle and chip easily? Why do some women have smooth skin while others have dry skin?
CAUSES OF THINNING HAIR, BRITTLE NAILS AND SKIN PROBLEMS
These aren’t just an external nuisance. Is it genetics, or is your body trying to tell you something?
Hair loss is so common. According to this article by the Cleveland Clinic, 40% of women experience visible hair loss at some point in their life. More than just being an unwanted nuisance and something a woman doesn’t feel good about, this is a sign of gradual insidious poor health.
As a naturopathic doctor who mainly treats patients with risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including hypertension, diabetes, and obesity, rarely is thinning hair or brittle nails a primary reason to see me.
However, many of these people do have progressively thinning hair, brittle nails, and/or skin problems, and these signs are an indication of unwanted changes that are happening inside the body and are closely related to the condition of their health.
Thinning Hair is a sign of heart disease and other conditions related to ageing and can be reversed easily.
Often, the same reasons for thinning hair can be attributed to weight gain, heart disease, or bone loss.
The state of your hair, nails and skin is dependant on the same factors that would influence the state of your arteries, joints and bones. If structures such as hair are deteriorating in the outside, then structures such as arteries, bones and joints are also deteriorating on the inside, so it is a good idea to consider these external changes as warning signs and the good news is that something CAN be done about this.
PRIMARY CONDITIONS TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY BODY
The maintenance and preservation of a healthy body and all of its components, in principle, requires two primary conditions.
1. AN ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF MATERIAL TO REPLENISH ONGOING NATURAL “WEAR AND TEAR”.
Human cells, tissues and organs die off and new ones take their place all the time. What is common to all the body parts I mentioned so far is that they are all made from protein, a structural protein, mainly in the form of collagen, elastin and keratin. To replenish and restore these body parts, new healthy protein is needed to replenish the old worn down stuff.
2. AN ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF ENERGY TO PERFORM THE WORK OF REPAIR AND REGENERATION.
If you need to fix something around the house or do any housework but feel tired that work will not get done. It is the same with your cells and your body. Certain common conditions, such as low thyroid function, low metabolism, insulin resistance (diabetes or pre-diabetes), excessive stress and others result in poor ability to turn the food you eat into energy that can be used to repair and regenerate your body. This can lead to poor regeneration of hair, leading to hair loss, poor regeneration of bones leading to bone loss, and poor regeneration of arteries, leading to heart attack and stroke, as some examples.
The good news is that with the right guidance it is possible to support the body’s own natural inner workings in recovery and restoration of health. The restoration of healthy hair growth is an indication of recovery, slow down of ageing and the restoration of youthfulness from within.
